AMSTERDAM, BRUGES & BERLIN
Our leisurely, three country European tour, is a wonderful journey through three of the continent’s most charming lands – contrasting their diverse scenery, languages, art, culture, architecture and cuisine.
Our entry is Holland, home of Rembrandt, windmills, tulips and canals. We’ll take you through Amsterdam then the Dutch countryside to the Hague and Delft, home of Holland’s famous blue pottery. Continue to Bruges, the Hanseatic League canal city, often compared to Venice for beauty. On to Brussels for a brief visit in this elegant city, then the express train to Berlin, Germany’s capital, reunited in 1989.

TUESDAY, DAY 2- AMSTERDAM
Arrive in Amsterdam. Transfer to your downtown hotel. Tonight’s Welcome to Holland’s Dinner celebrates your arrival. D
WEDNESDAY, DAY 3- AMSTERDAM
Morning orientation of Old and New Amsterdam. See the Mint Tower, Dam Square, the impressive Royal Palace, Waterloo Square, Tower of Tears, Stock Exchange and the World War II commemorative Statue of the Dockworker. Visit the Anne Frank House for a lecture on the history of the Frank family. This afternoon, visit the Rijksmuseum, largest in the Netherlands, for a view of an unrivaled collection of the 16th and 17th century art, including works by Rembrandt and other Dutch Masters. Evening at leisure. B
THURSDAY, DAY 4- AMSTERDAM
This morning, a Professional Visit is scheduled. (Local hospital- perhaps 1-2hours meet with faculty & possible counterparts) This afternoon is at leisure. Tonight, a special treat – join a candle light cruise through the romantic canals. Wine and cheese will be served. B
FRIDAY, DAY 5- AMSTERDAM-BRUGES
Drive to the royal city of the Hague, passing the Houses of Parliament, the Innercourt, Queen Beatrix’s working palace, Queen Beatrix House, and the International Court of Justice. Continue to Delft for a walking tour of this beautiful city. Lunch, then a walk with your guide through the historic area and one of the most beautiful squares of Holland. Continue into Belgium and Bruges, often compared to Venice for its beauty. Dinner and overnight. BLD
SATURDAY, DAY 6- BRUGHES
This morning visit the local hospital for a Professional Visit and to learn about the health care in Belgium, if possible meet with counterparts. This afternoon, a guided walk of the city and a delightful canal cruise. Balance of the day at leisure. B
SUNDAY, DAY 7- BRUGES-BRUSSELS-BERLIN
After breakfast, depart for Brussels, capital of Belgium, and the seat of the European Communities and of the NATO. After a brief sightseeing of the city, just after 12Noon, board the exciting, yet relaxed express train from Brussels to Berlin – First Class reserved with lunch – arrive Berlin in the early evening (7pm) and transfer to your hotel. MONDAY, DAY 8- BERLIN
This morning, your tour of the former West and East Berlin will include a drive along the well-known Kurfurstendamm, Berlin’s most famous avenue, filled with elegant shops and department stores and a great deal of people-watching! Pass the Kaiser Wilheim memorial Church Tower, symbol of the futile destructiveness of WWII and continue through the vast Tiergarten, a park situated in the central part of the city. Pass the remarkable Houses of Parliament, and continue to East Berlin and see the marked differences between the sophisticated west and the east, where, under the Communist regime, the architecture is generally either a very drab, institutional style or splendid restorations and recreations of old structures. See famous avenue Unter Den Linden, with its revival at the moment of the lively period of the 30s. Pass the most recognized structures in Berlin – the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and the Adlon Hotel, which was taken over by Hitler for his headquarters. This afternoon, visit the Potsdamer Platz, a busy traffic area in the center of the city. In 1961, the Berlin Wall was built across the square. The square is now famous for its many theatres and cinemas. Evening at leisure.B
TUESDAY, DAY 9- BERLIN
This morning a Professional Visit is scheduled in one of Berlin’s hospitals, for a meeting with the faculty and possibly counterparts.. This afternoon, visit the German Cathedral and the fabulous Pergamon Museum, home of the extraordinary Pergamon Altar and the Ishtar Gate, the 2500 year-old city gates of Babylon. B
WEDNESDAY, DAY 10-BERLIN
Full day at leisure to shop on Kurfurstendamm, Berlin’s 5th Avenue. Browse the Kathe Kollwitz Museum, or explore the city at your own pace. Tonight’s Farewell Dinner caps a beautiful tour. BD
THURSDAY, DAY 11-EN ROUTE
Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the U.S B
